Lindsey Davis Stover’s Statement Opposing the Trump Administration’s Apparent Decision to End DACA

Statement| September 4, 2017

McLean, VA – Lindsey Davis Stover, Candidate for Congress in Virginia’s 10th District, issued the following statement today regarding the apparent decision on Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

"These children never chose to come to this country, but they have built a life here and they are actively contributing to their communities and the U.S. economy.  President Trump's plan to end DACA isn't just cruel and unfair, it would result in a $460.3 billion reduction in economic growth. Washington Republicans and Congresswoman Comstock's anti-immigrant policies are a betrayal of our values and weakens our economy.  Barbara Comstock needs to put people over politics and protect these children that contribute so much to our society and economy. We need comprehensive immigration reform that provides a clear path to citizenship so we can reverse Trump and Comstock's divisive actions with policies that honor our values and create growth and opportunity in our economy.”

The Deferred Action of Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program has provided temporary relief and protection from deportation to nearly 800,000 individuals who were brought to the United States as children.
