McLean, VA – Lindsey Davis Stover, Candidate for Congress in Virginia’s 10th District, issued the following statement today as Rep. Barbara Comstock voted to dismantle vital provisions of the Dodd-Frank Act.

“While all eyes in Washington are on the Senate Intelligence Committee’s necessary hearing on President Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey, Barbara Comstock just voted to write Wall Street a blank check and dismantle necessary provisions of the Dodd-Frank Act, the very legislation passed to protect us from another Great Recession.

“As a small business owner, I know that the actions of Wall Street affect us on Main Street. I know that the risky business practices that caused a worldwide recession can’t and shouldn’t be slipped under the rug. And I know that any attempt to cripple the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is a vote for corporate banks over citizens.

“American families can’t afford legislation gift wrapped for Wall Street. And Virginia’s 10th district can’t afford another term being represented by Barbara Comstock.”
